Tim Roth and Family Made a Statement on Son Cormac’s Death

On Sunday the 16th of October, we lost our beautiful boy Cormac after a courageous battle with cancer,” the Roth family said in a statement. “He died peacefully in the arms of his family who loved and adored him. He fought with incredible bravery for the past year and maintained his wicked wit and humor to the very end. He was a wild and electric ball of energy and his spirit was filled with light and goodness. As wild as he was, Cormac was also the embodiment of kindness. A gentle soul who brought so much happiness and hope to those around him. The grief comes in waves, as do the tears and laughter, when we think of that beautiful boy across the 25 years and 10 months that we knew him. An irrepressible and joyful and wild and wonderful child. Only recently a man. We love him. We will carry him with us wherever we go.

Cormac Roth’s Instagram Only Mentioned Cancer Once

This past July, Cormac opened up about his cancer diagnosis via Instagram. He plays a somber guitar tune. He has no hair, indicative of the chemotherapy he had been suffering through.

In November of 21 I was diagnosed with stage 3 germ cell cancer,” Cormac wrote. “Since then I’ve been fighting it daily, throwing everything I can at it. Chemo, high dose chemo, medication, transplants, transfusions, surgeries etc. It is called Choriocarcinoma, it is rare, and it has managed to stay many steps ahead of me no matter what I throw at it. It has taken away half of my hearing, 60pounds of weight, my confidence, and will continue its murderous path until I can manage to stop it some how, and kill it. But it hasn’t taken away my will to survive, or my love of making music. It hasn’t taken me down yet. If you or someone you love is effected by cancer, please feel free to reach out for it is an emotional rollercoaster unlike anything else.
Love to you all please make sure to do the things that you love. Life is short. It is chaos. And you never know when it’s going to be you.
Be well and go to the doctor.
Fuck cancer.

Cormac Roth’s Public Announcement on His Cancer Diagnosis

His Last Social Media Post Gave a Heartfelt Message and Inspired Many

In August, Cormac posted a video to Instagram. He expressed deep admiration for the creations of others and told the world to “sink your teeth in. Remember that life is short. And you don’t always get to choose your destiny.” In the video, his hair has returned, but it is clear that he still looks ill. However, he has much more color than his previous post, perhaps giving many people hope that he would survive.

Given the lack of social media updates from Cormac or his family about his cancer battle, the public is shocked at his death. People took to Instagram to grieve Cormac’s passing in the comments under the video.

“My sincere condolences from North Bennington, VT. Cormac touched many people,” wrote one person.

“It’s amazing that you choose to tell us these words days before you left this word. To be this positive in the middle of a torment is a strenght act. Rest in peace, brother.”

“Just read about this young man’s passing…. just devastated for his family. What an excruciating loss. God speed, Cormac. Fly high….”

“Rest in peace, man. May you rock on for eternity.”

Tim Roth’s Legacy

Tim Roth is a distinguished actor with 113 credits and well known for his roles in Quentin Tarantino films like Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. He’s won a BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and has been nominated for a Golden Globe and Academy Award. Roth’s acting talent is expansive, much like Cormac’s musical talent was. He played Guildenstern in the cult classic Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, which is about two characters from Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

Tim Roth has not posted on social media about his son’s death. His last post on Instagram was in January 2021, and just before that he posted a photo of Cormac on his birthday. Cormac is wearing a very silly birthday hat and looking adorable. He had long hair in the photo, which he sadly must have lost from chemotherapy.

Stage 3 germ cell cancer is when cancer has spread to a person’s lymph nodes. It has an 87% cure rate according to Saint Jude’s Hospital, making Cormac’s death ever more tragic.

Cormac is survived by his parents, Tim and Nikki Roth, and his brother, Hunter Roth. Our condolences go out to his loved ones.
