Two Alabama teens, accused of beheading three stray puppies and posting the pictures to social media, have had their charges upgraded to felonies.
Ashley Johnson, 18, and his 17-year-old friend, are each being charged with one count of aggravated cruelty to animals and one count of cruelty to a cat or dog in the first degree. Each charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. District attorney Michael Jackson and his office will seek to try the 17-year-old as an adult.
“There is no excuse for killing three puppies and cutting their heads off. It’s sad and outrageous,” Jackson said, according to WSFA.com “We felt like given the horrific nature of these crimes, that these charges needed to be felonies.”
Yeah, no kidding, especially since the video in question reportedly shows the puppies being thrown in the air and then killed with a machete.
Why anyone would do this at all, let alone to three helpless pups is beyond normal comprehension.
