Dermatologist Yue Yu is reportedly accused of poisoning her husband, who is also a doctor, since late July or earlier. Police allegedly said Dr. Jack Chen began to suspect his wife was poisoning him with Drano after he got sick earlier this year.

Steven Hittelman, a lawyer for Chen, said he began experiencing “unusual symptoms” in March. He allegedly suffers from stomach ulcers, gastritis, and inflammation of the esophagus.

“[Chen] went in to get checked by a doctor and found that he had had physical effects,” Hittelman reportedly said. “He started to then connect the dots.”

Hittelman added that his client subsequently took three or more videos verifying his suspicions about the Drano poisoning are true. Chen allegedly set up cameras in their kitchen.

“She takes up the bottle, she pours it in, puts the cap back on and puts it back under the sink as though nothing else was happening in her day.”

Chen reportedly has a restraining order against Yu, who also goes by Emily. She is no longer in jail.

The documents reportedly detail, he alleged longtime verbal, physical, and emotional abuse also involving their two children.

“If our children let Emily know that they enjoyed spending time with me, or showed affection toward me, then Emily would put them in their room and yell at them until they assured her they would not show affection toward me,” Chen alleged.

CBS News noted that Chen has filed for divorce.
