I think by now we all know who Elon Musk is and what type of man he is. He’s in the news pretty much almost every other day for doing stupid stuff. But let’s face it when you’re someone who has that amount of money, you can pretty much do whatever you want. It’s like a non-hidden rule or something.

For example, you can take a nine-minute flight if you want to because traffic just isn’t worth it when you’re rich. Well, apparently the billionaire did just this. Hayden Clarkin tweeted about the flight, saying, “Elon Musk took a 9 minute flight to San Francisco from San Jose, which is 5 stops on Caltrain. I have no words.”

Just a Quick Flight

The screenshot that Clarkin posted was originally captured by bot account @ElonJet,  which is run by University Jack Sweeney who tracks private jets that are owned by celebrities.

So let me break it down for you. Musk’s plane flew 35 miles from San Jose International Airport to San Francisco International Airport. How long would it be by car?  Well depending on traffic really, but it shouldn’t be more than a 40-minute drive on a normal day.

In a follow-up tweet Clarkin went on to say, “Oh great point, SFO and San Jose would be a stop away from each other on the HSR project he’s tried to derail,”

As expected the Tweet went viral on social media with several people criticizing Musk. Several expressed their outrage over the carbon footprint that is left behind. One user tweeted, “7:14p on a Friday, heading northbound? Typically ~40 mins. The flight likely took up about the same amount of time when you consider boarding, taxiing, and transportation to the airport instead of driving direct to destination.”

Just Elon Musk being Elon Musk

Another one noted, “But women should have more children to conserve the human race, meanwhile Bad Boys Billionaires can continue making Earth uninhabitable.”

Journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin went on to defend Musk, offering an explanation for the CEO. He tweeted, “The plane was likely just being “repositioned” — as if the plane was sitting at one airport and then was moved to a different airport to pick up its passengers. This happens all the time. Planes often sit at a less busy airport and then fly to another one close by.”

Now, you know damn well that Musk indeed did take that flight, because he didn’t want to sit in a car for so long. Like I said, if you have the money you can do anything you want apparently. Was it selfish of him, yes. I agree with that. But this dude doesn’t care what you think, so it’s not even worth giving attention to.

But we’re humans, we love it.

What do you think?

  1. On this anniversary of Kobe Bryants birth day, I dnt hear any liberal whining about his taking his helicopter to a girls’ basketball practice for the very same reasons. It is what it is and when you are a wealthy target of criminal opportunity you protect yourself and your family.

  2. The pathetic whining in this article is hilarious. To be that obsessed with somebody else and to think that your mediocre accomplishments let you criticize someone who’s done so much for the world is kind of funny. Silke, who no one knows or has ever heard of before, thinks Elon does a lot of “stupid stuff”. Lol, ok.
