Fan Dies After Falling From Escalator at Pittsburgh Steelers Game

A fan who fell from an escalator during the Pittsburgh Steelers’ game vs. the New York Jets has died. The game was held at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.

Per WPXI Channel 11 News in Pittsburgh, the man was 27-year-old Dalton Keane. He fell nearly 40 feet from the Gate C escalator inside the stadium following the Steelers’ 24-20 loss, and at first transported to the hospital in critical condition, before eventually succumbing to his injuries.

Keane worked as a welder for McCarl’s LLC and was the father of a 2-year-old daughter. He attended the game with friends.

“We are shocked and saddened to hear about Dalton’s accident on Sunday. He joined McCarl’s in 2014 and was highly regarded by our employees. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family,” said McCarl’s CEO Ken Burk said, via WPXI.

The Steelers also released a statement.

“We are aware of an unfortunate incident that occurred inside Acrisure Stadium today,” it read. “We are working with local authorities and helping their investigation into the matter. We are sending our thoughts and prayers to the guest’s family.”

Details on the tragic accident won’t be released until authorities conclude their investigation. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police’s Violent Crime Unit is currently investigating the incident. “Around 4:45 p.m. on October 2nd, Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS and Pittsburgh Bureau of Police within Acrisure Stadium responded after an adult male fell from an escalator,” the statement read. Paramedics did administer care on scene and quickly transported him to the local hospital.
