Florida Christian School Teacher Arrested For Twerking on Student at Prom

TAYLOR COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

If you’re a teacher at a Christian school, two things are probably a no-no. That would be sexting and twerking.

But one teacher at a Florida Christian school did both.

And in not-so-shocking developments, the teacher is no longer employed. Worse, the teacher got arrested for what was deemed inappropriate behavior.

Julie Hoover, a former teacher at Point of Grace Christian School in Perry, Fla., was led away in handcuffs for both engaging in lewd conduct with a student and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, as relayed by the New York Post.

This was the second such arrest for Hoover, 39. The first came back in June, when she was charged with one count of an authority figure soliciting or engaging in sex with a student. The crime? Sexting with a senior.

But back to the here and now. Along with exchanging explicit texts, the student told authorities that Hoover suggestively danced up against him (or “twerked,” as Miley Cyrus would call it) and forced him to drink alcohol at prom on April 8.

As relayed by the Post:

“He told investigators he became so uncomfortable while she twerked on him that other students tried to squeeze in between the then-teacher and the boy several times to try to get her to stop. At least two students who stepped in corroborated the incident, WCTV reported.”

She even made the student take a drink from her straw, which was placed in an alcoholic beverage, the student said.

As for the sexting, well, that was discovered by the kid’s mom when she went through his phone.

An anonymous school official basically confirmed the reports as factual.

“Mrs. Hoover is a former teacher with Point of Grace Christian,” the official wrote in a statement, via WCTV. “We will not provide further information on her employment or departure from our school.

“The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office informed us of the allegations against Mrs. Hoover, and we have cooperated with the investigation. Out of respect for the judicial process, we will not comment any further at this time.”

  1. It is so disappointing, when someone professes to be a Christian, to act like this. It makes all Christians look bad. The school should always do a background check when hiring any employee, whether it is a Christian school or not. I was a secretary at a church, and I always ran background check on anyone we hired.

  2. The school needs to explain the idea behind allowing alcohol being brought into the school “back room” for teachers to allegedly enjoy after the prom. A Christian school? Actually no school should allow such dangerous behavior let alone a private Christian school. There are plenty of venues for teachers to unwind without dragging alcohol into a school prom by the administration! Do parents know what kind of decisions are made by this school where their children are enrolled? Finally, I am offended by the bias of the reporter making this story on TV. This behavior has everything to do with an irresponsible teacher and the out of control administrators for what happened. Inappropriate, unprofessional and alleged criminal behavior can be blamed upon INDIVIDUALS but hardly upon a race of people. There is no white Jesus nor is there a so-called “white privilege”, two terms that are as racist as anything can be, where bad behavior is tied to the skin color of a race! That thinking is as backward as blaming all blacks for the misdeeds of a few. This reporter is black and needs to explain why he insinuates race is a player in this story. He seems to be a part of the problem in this country and not a seeker of solutions. It takes no talent to stir up hatred and division. Dr Martin Luther King would have been the first to correct your fallacy!

  3. In case you did not know, there are many many 4x & 5x bikers. (Maybe not so much among the crotch-rocket crews.) My vet group associates have all commented on your products but have not purchased because you don’t carry the other popular sizes

  4. I’m no prude. But it’s immoral, unethical, and illegal for an older- if still young- adult teacher to coerce and engaged in sexually focused messaging or actions with a subordinate student. Done.
Any actions that cross that line between teacher and student are crimes against vulnerable subordinates – even if by statute- the sexual contact is consensual.
