Oklahoma teenager Dalton Bruton went into cardiac arrest after being kicked in the chest by a horse.
The incident occurred at his family’s farm in the panhandle, and he was airlifted to Wichita and underwent surgery. Doctors removed approximately 300ml of blood from around his heart.
Deni Bruton, Dalton’s mother, took to Facebook to ask for continued prayers.
“Please keep praying for my boy,” Deni said in the post. “This is going to be a long hard road on recovery. But he is determined this is not going to stop him.”
The Brutons raise and train show horses, and Dalton was getting the horses lined up for a virus checkup. He told a local TV station one particular horse wouldn’t cooperate.
“We were just kind of trying to corner and, you know, get her calmed down a little bit, and I got whacked,” he said.
The Daltons family extended its gratitude to everyone who rallied around them and offered well wishes and support.
“Dalton said he is sending each and everyone of you a cross dimensional hug,” Deni said. “He knows without all of you he didn’t have a chance.”
The family has set up a GoFundMe to help pay for his hospital expenses.
