Grandpa’s 100-Day McDonald’s Diet for Weight Loss is ‘Absolutely Working’

Looking to shed some weight? Well, then how about a Big Mac, large fry and a medium Coke?

No, seriously. One man is giving it a try — eating nothing but McDonald’s for 100 straight days in an effort to lose weight.

And guess what? It’s already working.

Kevin Maginnis, 56, is the man in question, and is sharing his journey on TikTok. He hails from Nashville, is a grandfather, and initially weighed in at 238 pounds.

Fittingly, his TikTok handle is @bigmaccoaching.

“So I woke up this morning and I weighed 238 pounds,” Maginnis said on Feb. 21. “And I decided that that is absolutely unacceptable.”

Then Maginnis discussed his weight-loss plan with a chuckle.

‘So I drove down to McDonald’s,” he said, “because if you’re gonna start getting into better physical shape, McDonald’s is the place you go.”

Then he announced his promise — nothing but McDonald’s for the next 100 days. That’s right, it’s McDonald’s or bust for Maginnis.

“But instead of eating everything they give me, I’m going to cut the meals in half,” he said. “Just to prove to myself that it’s not as much what you’re eating. It’s the quantity that we’re eating that really jacks us up.”

And get this — everything on the menu is fair game, including desserts.

For instance, his breakfast consisted of a sausage biscuit with egg and well-done hash browns. But he only hate half of the order, then saved the rest for lunch.

He does the same for dinner, eating just half of the quarter-pounder with cheese and fries.

After the first two weeks, Maginnis dropped 13 pounds.

McDonald’s in Moderation

“The biggest motivation is wanting to be healthy for my family. I got kids and grandkids, and I want to be here for them,” he said.

This is what’s known as the opposite of Supersize Me, the 2004 documentary in which a man ate only McDonald’s, gained weight and got sick.

But this is a long-known dietary fact. If the goal is simply to lose weight, you merely need to take in less calories than you burn.

Not long ago, a Kansas State University professor proved it by eating little beyond Twinkies and other junk food for 10 weeks — and dropping 27 pounds. All his bloodwork came back great, and even showed improvements.

Maginnis is on a similar path, by merely eating McDonald’s, but just controlling his portions, proving again that if you want to lose weight, you only need to do one thing — eat less, of anything.
