The joke probably is referring to a toilet, and ultimately, the sewage system. That’s all well and good, provided it stays in the sewer. It’s not so great, though, if the sewer comes to life.
But that is what happened in Chicago, when heavy rains resulted in sewage backup, leading whatever was in the sewer to erupt out of a manhole. And while nobody wanted to deal with what came bursting out, the entire scene was a sight to behold.
Sewage Water Explodes Out of Manhole
The video was first posted to Facebook by Rashida TeriMama, though it eventually made the rounds through other means, such as TikTok and Twitter.
The floods, and sewage eruption, happened after two tornadoes touched down in the area, city officials said. And this isn’t the first time this has happened. Chicago’s questionable sewer system reportedly leaves it open to flooding, per multiple reports
Well, That’s Not Good
So if you live in Chicago, almost everything you ingest does indeed end up in the same place — and that would be right back on the streets. Can you imagine just waking up one morning, doing your routine, getting in the car and then immediately having to stop after seeing water just bursting out of the ground?
That’s a good excuse to send to your boss if you ask me.
Hey boss, uh, I think I’m gonna be late today. Or I might not be able to make it in. I’m still not sure.
Why?
Well, there’s water. Everywhere. A huge manhole.
What do you mean water?
It’s coming out of the ground. You know what, forget it, I’ll send you a picture.
