Katherine Schwarzenegger Does It All…

Katherine Schwarzenegger-Pratt was speaking at DSW’s “Best Foot Forward” panel and luncheon, held at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. The event featured a variety of trailblazing women who discussed female empowerment in honor of Women’s History Month. Also in attendance were Cara Santana and Ashley Tisdale. The panel was moderated by E! News Chief Correspondent Keltie Knight.

Schwarzenegger-Pratt is a mother to 2-year-old Lyla Maria and 8-month-old Eloise Christina. That in itself is a full-time job, but she hasn’t stopped there. She has an Instagram Live series BDA Baby (Before, During, After Baby), is a self-help author and children’s book author, hosts a podcast called The Gift of Forgiveness, and is a diehard animal advocate. The busy momma is promoting her newest children’s book, Good Night, Sister, and spent last month on tour.

…But She Also Asks for Help, and That’s Okay!

“I would’ve dramatically suffered, had I not brought my mom and my sister with me,” said Schwarzenegger-Pratt (via People). “I’m a big believer — I feel like on Instagram we see all these moms that are like, ‘I’m doing it all, I’m doing it all, I’m doing it all on my own,’ blah-blah and I’m like, ‘I don’t want to do it all on my own.’”

Katherine was referring to her 31-year-old actor and producer sister, Christina Schwarzenegger, and their mom, Maria Shriver, with whom her children are very close.

“I want to lean on my sister, I want to lean on my mom, I want to lean on my girlfriends, my mom friends,” she continued. “I want to be honest and transparent and also say, ‘I can’t make this today. My kid’s sick. She was up all night teething. I need to be a mom right now.'”

She concluded with an important reminder for any moms out there who may feel like they need to do everything.

“So, I think being able to be open about the fact that you don’t have to do it all, you can lean on people, you can enlist help from others and being okay with that,” she said. “That, I feel, is such a big struggle for women in general, but I think especially if you’re balancing multiple roles, is saying, ‘I need help today,’ and that’s okay.”

Watch Katherine Schwarzenegger Flail While Making Mac and Cheese on Instagram

The author and busy mom specializes in barebones honesty, especially when it comes to being in tune with your limits. It’s nice to see that she’s actually walking the walk and speaking from experience. But anyone who follows her already probably knows this.

In a recent Instagram video, Schwarzenegger-Pratt hilariously shared herself making a box of Annie’s mac and cheese. It feels like she’s about to do something incredibly special or gourmet, but no. She actually just makes the box of mac and cheese exactly according to its directions, and at one point accidentally drops a bunch of macaroni all over her stove.

“When the directions called for a colander, it felt fancy, and I got a little too confident…. And… well… it still tasted delicious!” she wrote.

Katherine Schwarzenegger-Pratt’s first book, Rock What You’ve Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty from Someone Who’s Been There and Back, was published in 2010 when she was just 21 years old. It became a New York Times bestseller and launched her into a successful career as a self-help author. She’s since published two more self-help books and two children’s books.
