For fans of Field of Dreams, actors Kevin Costner and Ray Liotta will live on forever.
Costner, for one, intends to keep Liotta’s memory alive, posting a tribute on Instagram. Costner played a troubled farmer in the classic film, while Liotta portrayed Shoeless Joe Jackson.
“In honor of MLB at Field of Dreams this week, I wanted to share some memories from the movie but more importantly remember the amazing Ray Liotta,” Costner wrote. “’Shoeless Joe Jackson’ will be out there with all of us for a great night of baseball in the fields of Iowa.”
Costner posted six photos from the movie, including a few of Liotta, who died on May 26 at the age of 67. The actor died in his sleep while filming Dangerous Waters in the Dominican Republic. After the announcement of his death, Costner was one of the actors who expressed his grief through Instagram.
“Devastated to hear the news of @rayliotta’s passing. While he leaves an incredible legacy, he’ll always be Shoeless Joe Jackson in my heart. What happened that moment in the film was real. God gave us that stunt. Now God has Ray.” he captioned his post.
Liotta attended MLB’s Field of Dreams game last summer and discussed what it was like to step onto the cornfields of Dyersville.
“For one hot Midwest summer, we called that small town home. Filming in that Iowa heat, telling a story of the magic of America’s game,” he told Fox Sports.
Fox Sports: MLB also honored the late actor, posting a tribute video on Twitter with the caption, “That’s the beauty of baseball and a movie like ‘Field of Dreams.’ He gets to live forever in our hearts.” Earlier his year, Ray Liotta sadly passed away at the age of 67. Kevin Costner looks back at his time on set with Liotta and honors the life of his former colleague.”
