Madonna’s Daughter Just Released Her First Single, and It’s Wild One

Madonna may be the Material Girl, but her daughter is…well, all about the techno.

That’s fairly evident in the video from Lourdes Leon, who has officially released the video for her song Lock & Key. Leon, 25, is much more than Madonna’s daughter. She is also a singer, dancer, and model.

And perhaps now she will have a hit of her own. Or at least a collaborated hit, as Chemical X also has a role, serving as co-producer of the song (along with Samuel Burgess and Hara Kiri).

Truth is, however, the video is probably more striking than the song. Though it does something like a modern-day Madonna might release. Oh, and for the record, Leon also has selected a one-word moniker for herself. She goes by Lolahol.

Lock & Key– Lolahol

Leon is Madonna’s daughter from her relationship with Cuban actor (and fitness instructor) Carlos Leon. She actually said a year ago that she wasn’t really all that interested in pursuing music.

“As for music, I can sing. I just don’t care about it. Maybe it’s too close to home,” she told Interview in October

Clearly, that has changed enough for at least one song. What may be in the future for the artist currently known as Lolahol?

Following Mom’s Footsteps

“I want to create a world in which models have more agency over what they’re doing, and they’re not just silent clothing racks,” Leon said. “That’s the age that we’re coming into in the fashion world: models as personalities and artists.”

As for music, or anything, Leon said he does get plenty of advice from her mother.

“She’s very much like, ‘Proceed with caution and think about what you want to be known for,'” Leon said. “I’ve thought a lot about that recently, because as a ‘model,’ you’re basically relying on your looks. It can feel very overwhelming, and can potentially cause a lot of insecurity.”

She added, “I’ve been judged from a young age, but I think that privacy is the reason why I was able to keep my wits about me and not find myself in a mental asylum. I want to figure out who the f**k I am before I let anyone else try to tell me who I am, you know?”
