The unfortunate Indonesian man was enjoying an intimate moment with his partner when a sickening cracking sound, followed by excruciating pain, ruined the mood. His erection disappeared, and he began to bleed from the tip of his penis. Shortly after, the injured member became swollen and turned a dark shade of purple in what professionals call an “Eggplant Deformity.” A study on the anonymous sufferer has appeared in the scientific journal Urology Case Reports.

At the General Hospital of West Nusa Tenggara Province, it was confirmed that the swelling was caused by a penile fracture. While we typically associate fractures with cracked bones, a penile fracture actually refers to a tear in the tunica albuginea, which the Daily Mail describes as “a firm, fibrous sheath” that is “made mostly of collagen.”

Thankfully, surgeons were able to repair the member. After performing an “artificial erection test,” doctors affirmed that the man’s penis “did not bend abnormally.” However, he still required a catheter to urinate for a period after the operation.

So, how did “reverse cowgirl” cause this bedroom casualty? The New York Post cites a viral TikTok video from Dr. Karan Raj, who claimed that the position is particularly dangerous. According to him, it’s all too easy for the penis to accidentally slide out during intercourse and get mashed by the top partner’s pelvic movements.

Apparently, the Urology Case Reports study claims that there are a variety of ways that the penis can get bent out of shape, so to speak. These include masturbation and even sleeping in the wrong position!

Weeks after surgery, doctors have reported that the injured man is doing much better, though it hasn’t been documented whether he’s ready to attempt intercourse again.

We’re betting he won’t be using the eggplant emoji anytime soon!
