The then 50-year-old was found unresponsive in his home after suffering a cardiac arrest due to the anesthetic propofol. That certain drug was reportedly administered by his physician, Conrad Murray.

His death was ruled by homicide, with Murray taking the blame. He was later convicted of involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to four years in prison. He ended up serving two in total but did receive a lot of hate from fans of the pop star.

Recently Murray decided to open up about him after saying Jackson abused drugs throughout his life using alarming doses. He was also allegedly easily able to buy from several other doctors, some of who were never accused or arrested after his death.

Michael Jackson’s Physician Reveals He Was A Drug Addict

A new documentary is set to be released about the actor’s final days, TMZ Investigates: Who Really Killed Michael Jackson, which will explore his life before death. It alleges that Jackson used 19 fake IDs in order to acquire the drugs prior to his death.

“It’s a lot more complicated than just: Dr. Murray was at his bedside when he died,” Orlando Martinez stated. Martinez was the LAPD detective assigned to Jackson’s death.

“Circumstances had been leading up to his death for years, and all of these different medical professionals had allowed Michael to dictate his own terms, get the medicines he wanted when he wanted them, where he wanted them,” Martinez noted. “All of them are the reason why he’s dead today.”

Jackson was reportedly taking the propofol in “Gatorade” size bottles before his death, according to Ed Winter. Winter was the assistant chief coroner for LA Country. He noted that the medical community heavily facilitated his obsession with several substances. He went on to say that propofol “was the only way he could go to sleep, especially when he was getting ready for a tour.”

“It was not a big deal — he had been using it for decades, different doctors had given it to him from all around the world … and they allowed him to sometimes inject the medicine,” Murray, noted. “He was able to push the propofol himself, and the doctors allowed him to do it, and that was OK.” Murray would routinely administer it to Jacskon as well.

According to Dr. Drew Pinsky, the makeshift sleep medicine is neither a medication that can be used to treat insomnia nor one that is just routinely stored outside of any medical facility. But, according to the documentary, the singer was reportedly addicted to several other drugs throughout his career.

Apparently, it all began when he suffered both second and third-degree burns to his scalp during a pyrotechnic disaster while he was filming a Pepsi commercial in 1983. He was given several painkillers to stop the pain and recuperate. Jackson repeatedly said that the incident was the start of his addiction.

He had announced in 1993 that he was canceling the latter part of his “Dangerous” world tour in order to go to treatment. “I became increasingly more dependent on the painkillers to get me through the days of my tour,” he noted. The time on the road was reportedly misery for the singer. Through archived footage, Jackson stated: “I don’t like it … I will go through hell touring.”

TMZ Investigates: Who Really Killed Michael Jackson is set to premiere Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 8 p.m. on Fox.
