An Indiana couple got the surprise of their life after delivering their baby on the side of the highway. The father had to think quickly, tying the umbilical cord with two iPhone chargers! Superdad indeed.

Stephan and Emily Waddell were driving to the hospital when the mom quickly realized she wasn’t going to make it. Stephan quickly pulled over on the side of Interstate 69 where their daughter, Reagan was born. The baby weighed 7 pounds and 10 ounces.
Mom Delivers Baby on Side of Highway
Emily spoke with WEVV about her pregnancy and delivery experience, saying that she knew it was going to happen since she had given birth before. She had initially called her husband earlier after experiencing contractions that were eight minutes apart.
Most Mothers are asked to head to the hospital when their contractions are five minutes apart. “Even at that point, whenever I told him to come home, I wasn’t even positive that the baby was coming,” she stated.
But, she quickly realized that her initial thoughts were wrong after she began to feel more pain.“Whenever we were getting on the interstate, I said out loud, ‘I do not want to have a baby in the truck.’ Stephan was like, ‘Don’t worry, you’re not going to.’” But she quickly instructed her husband to pull over and call 911.

“So we get to the interstate and we are moving. And that’s whenever Emily kind of grabs ahold of my arm and she was like, ‘You have to pull over NOW,’” Stephan noted.
“We knew the baby was coming. We knew it was just us there,” he continued. The 911 operator had actually asked Stephan whether he had anything to cut the cord. “Stephan used two phone chargers to tie off the umbilical cord while I sucked her mouth and nose out with my mouth – which is very difficult when you just pushed a baby on the side of the road,” Emily said in a Facebook post.
Despite the whole scary incident, baby Reagan was nice and healthy! What an epic birth story.
