New COVID-19 Inspired Horror Film Trailer Released

Nothing screams “horror” quite like a pandemic, so why not make a movie about it? That appeared to be the motivation behind Sick, a film inspired by the COVID-19 virus that rocked the world. The movie debuts on Peacock on Jan. 13, though the trailer is out now.

It’s set in April 2020, pretty much at the height of the pandemic, when Parker (Gideon Adlon) and her best friend Miri (Bethlehem Million) decide to quarantine at a family lakehouse.

Except they aren’t alone.

In true horror genre fashion, the pair of pals are hunted by a mysterious psychopath. (Clearly, he doesn’t really care about the whole six-foot-distance thing.)

Perhaps the most telling scene is when a woman refuses to rescue Parker and lets her into a car because, you know, Parker isn’t wearing a mask.

Granted, there have been plenty of pandemic-related horror films that have crept up throughout history. There have even been several on COVID-19 since 2020. This really is just the latest.

As relayed by Lauren Milici of GamesRadar:

“Rob Savage’s Host, which cleverly takes place over the duration of a Zoom call between friends during the pandemic, was both a critical and commercial success. Andy Milton’s The Harbinger, which came out in 2022, holds a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.”

Sick was directed by John Hyams and written by Kevin Williams, perhaps best known for the Scream franchise.
