Sparks were flying, but not in a good way. Instead, they were spotted on a wing of an United Airlines flight. The plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Newark, N.J.
The flight was headed for Sao Paulo, Brazil, but didn’t get very far, clearly experiencing a mechanical issue. It was carrying 256 passengers, per reports.
The Federal Aviation Administration released a statement to say the matter s under investigation:
“United Airlines Flight 149, a Boeing 777-200, landed safely at Newark Liberty International Airport shortly before 1 a.m. local time today after the crew reported an emergency,’ the statement read. “The flight departed Newark and was headed to So Paulo, Brazil before it returned. The FAA will investigate.”
