Plane Forced To Land on LA Freeway, Bursts Into Flames

This is a horrible trip to the office.

Everyone involved will be around to tell the story of how a small plane crashed on a busy California highway, but that doesn’t make in any less terrifying.

Both the pilot and passenger managed to walk away without a scratch — despite the single-engine Piper Cherokee bursting into flames after it hit the ground in Riverside County.

It all happened after the engine lost power, and pilot Andrew Cho decided the only runway available was the interstate. Dashcam footage captured the scary crash and resulting fire as the plane somehow landed between and avoided speeding cars.

Somehow, the landing was practically flawless, with one of the wings clipping a pickup truck. The plane then spun around, bursting into flames, before coming to rest on the road’s shoulder.

“Your training kicks in and you do the right thing. As long as you don’t panic, you get the best outcome.”

The FAA is continuing an investigation into the incident.
