Rock-N-Roll has been known to evoke quite a few emotions from its listeners. Some enjoy a bit of head-banging, screaming, and carrying on while others find the electric chords and angsty melodies a siren song into more of the morose, mournful themes.

There’s a clear distinction between the classic Emo genre and invigorating Rock-N-Roll, but in honor of the blissful taste of nostalgia, let’s take a look back at when one of the most iconic rock bands, KISS, dipped their toe into the dark and dreary waters of Emo paradise.

New Year New York

Just a breath after Y2K, the band’s bassist and co-lead singer Gene Simmons brought a coffin to the Licensing 2001 International trade show. The musician believed wheeling a casket into the New York City social circuit was a celebration in some way. Championing life by using the very manifestation of death for other purposes.

The KISS Kasket, as it was christened, was a custom, black coffin repurposed into a drink cooler for die-hard (pun intended) fans. The starting price for this cryptic creation was $4700 for a signed sarcophagus and anywhere between $3300 to $3900 for the standard design.

Crypt Crawling

It was a unique product that could be used for a variety of activities, mostly storing beverages during parties or gatherings and providing a great conversation starter and a reminder of the band’s legacy.

This was understandably unheard of in even the creepiest corners of Addams-esque society. The KISS Kasket gave the brand an entirely new outlook on life, death, celebration, and their iconic music. There were particularly niche designs of the coffin, like boxes for fans of NASCAR and Cadillac luxury for the sake of the thrill.

To this day, fans continue to purchase the KISS Kasket. For decor, delight, or the delicious taste of yesteryear. A chance to remember that Rock-N-Roll and its legacy are meant to last forever.
