Earthquake Kills 2,300+ in Turkey and Syria

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked Southeast portions of Turkey and northern Syria on Monday morning. There have been at least 30 aftershocks.

Officials in the area are reporting that over 2,300 people have died. Shocking photos reveal the total devastation this earthquake has brought to the region. See some of those photos courtesy of Associated Press below…

The Wall Street Journal is now reporting that after the initial 7.8 magnitude earthquake, an aftershock registering 7.5 magnitude followed, causing even more destruction to the area.

As authorities continue to survey the massive area affected by the earthquakes, the death toll continues to rise.

Thousands of buildings have been destroyed. The video below depicts the violent earthquakes as they hit, and the damage that they have caused. This video was published by ‘The Guardian”.

The Guardian is also reporting that the ‘Gaziantep Castle’, a historic castle in Turkey, was badly damaged by the quake. We have footage of that damage from the Guardian below…

Rescue workers have been deployed across both countries, with Nations around the world now pledging to assist in recovery efforts.

In a photo below, you can see crews clearing debris in search of people that have been trapped or killed.

This video below shows a building completely collapsing as people run away in fear. Keep in mind, this is occurring all over Turkey and Syria.

This is the largest earthquake of 2023 to date. As rescue workers continue to dig through debris, one can only imagine how high the death toll will rise.
