Celebrities including Sir Elton John, Mick Jagger, Daniel Craig, and Pierce Brosnan partook in the solemn reflection of Queen Elizabeth II.

Craig, who famously starred alongside The Queen in a sketch for the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony, expressed his feelings about her death.

“I, like so many, was deeply saddened by the news today and my thoughts are with the royal family, those she loved and all those who loved her,” Craig said in a statement. “She leaves an incomparable legacy and will be profoundly missed.”

Meanwhile, another former James Bond, Brosnan posted a photo of Queen Elizabeth on Instagram. It depicted the monarch at the 1961 premiere of The Guns of Navarone at London’s Odeon Cinema in Leicester Square.

“Rest in peace, your majesty,” Brosnan captioned his tweet about the monumental event. “It was an honor to serve you.”

Additionally, Sir Elton John remarked at his Toronto concert on Thursday night that Queen Elizabeth II “worked bloody hard.”

Another legendary British rock star, Mick Jagger, also chimed in with his thoughts.

“For my whole life Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II has always been there,” Mick Jagger, who was knighted by the Queen in 2003, posted a message on Instagram. “In my childhood, I can recall watching her wedding highlights on TV. I remember her as a beautiful young lady, to the much beloved grandmother of the nation. My deepest sympathies are with the Royal family.”

The Death of Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth II, who was the U.K.’s longest-serving monarch, died at age 96. She reigned for 70 years, first coming to the throne in 1952.

The heir-apparent is Charles, Prince of Wales, the Queen’s eldest son. He is also the head of state for 14 Commonwealth realms.

King Charles on Friday shook hands with British people when he went to Buckingham Palace as the heir-apparent, NBC News noted. The outlet also noted guns fired and bells tolled in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth’s death.

“God save the king!” some onlookers reportedly shouted.

Britain is now in an extended period of national mourning.
