Steve Harvey met with Donald Trump, but history suggests that he’s no friend of the Republican Party

On Friday, Steve Harvey and Donald Trump to discuss “the future” of the nation. He claimed, in a tweet, that the “transition teams on both sides” asked him to meet with the president-elect and that he spoke with Dr. Ben Carson about “programs and housing in our inner cities.”

However, if history is any indicator, Harvey is no friend of the Republican party. In the 2016 election, he came out strongly behind Hillary Clinton. A memo that was leaked by hackers during the campaign appeared to show that Harvey had given the Democratic nominee the questions to his interview with her before they went on camera. The interview and questions were even structured to prove that Clinton was sympathetic to the issues facing the African-American community.

In a PBS interview, Harvey talked about writing jokes under the Bush administration and said that he wondered if there was a “black guy” on the ranch when Dick Cheney shot his friend in the hunting accident that the vice-president “could blame.”

Harvey’s meeting drew criticism from some members of show business. Comedian D.L. Hughley said in an Instagram post that “Trump is working on a new reality show where he convinces black ppl he cares about em by taking pics with celebrities.”
