A reporter thanks Obama at final press conference, one pollster makes an interesting comparison about media in the next “4 or 8 years”

As President Obama gave his final press conference Wednesday afternoon, one Republican pollster took notice to a reporter’s comment before asking a question.

“Whether in 4 or 8 years, take note whether the final reporter to ask Pres. Trump a question will begin with “Thank you, it’s been an honor,” Frank Luntz wrote on Twitter following the conference.

The reporter was Christi Parsons of the L.A. Times. She has covered the White House since 2008.

“Thank you, it’s been an honor,” she told the president before asking a question about the consequences of the election, and what it will mean for his daughters.

Luntz followed up his tweet with a statistic from Gallup about the decline in trust in the media from September 2016.

“Americans’ trust in media is at an all-time low,” he writes.

The Gallup graphic shows trust in media at 32 percent, the lowest it’s been since the statistics have been gathered.

While it is clear Americans’ trust in the media has been eroding over time, the election campaign may be the reason that it has fallen so sharply this year. With many Republican leaders and conservative pundits saying Hillary Clinton has received overly positive media attention, while Donald Trump has been receiving unfair or negative attention, this may be the prime reason their relatively low trust in the media has evaporated even more.

President-elect Donald Trump has lambasted the media throughout his campaign and into his transition period. He most recently called CNN fake news for their reporting on a document circulating throughout the intelligence community that alleged compromising information about Trump that Russia may have.

Conservatives criticized the White House press corps throughout the Obama administration for not being harsh enough for the president.
