After a heated interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson on Thursday night, Newsweek reporter Kurt Eichenwald announced on Twitter that he would be taking a break from social media because “a deplorable” caused him to have a seizure. The user, “@jew_goldstein” whose account has since been suspended, sent Eichenwald a gif with rapidly flashing lights and the message “you deserve a seizure” after Eichenwald posted a series of angry tweets in the aftermath of the interview.

Soon after, someone responded from Eichenwald’s account claiming to be his wife.

“This is his wife, you caused a seizure. I have your information and have called the police to report the assault,” the person said.

On Friday afternoon, Eichenwald himself followed up.

“For self-protection, I am taking a short twitter break. I will be spending that time with my lawyers & law enforcement going after 1 of u…” Eichenwald tweeted. “Last night, for the second time, a deplorable aware I have epilepsy tweeted a strobe at me with the message ‘you deserve a seizure’ on it…it worked.”

He then sent out another bizzare series of tweets claiming that the tweet might be a federal crime and that he will attempt to take legal action against the person who trolled him.

“At this point, the police are attempting to determine is this is a federal crime because it appears to be cross state,” he said. “You are facing a criminal investigation lawsuit.”
