Two payroll employees at Fox News have sued the company and alleged that there is “top-down racial harassment” at the cable news network. Tichaona Brown and Tabrese Wright directly point out former Fox News comptroller Judith Slater in their lawsuit. Slater was recently terminated by Fox News after the company received numerous complaints that she had acted inappropriately.

“We take any complaint of this nature very seriously and took the appropriate action in investigating and firing Ms. Slater within two weeks of this being brought to our attention,” Fox News said in a statement to The Wrap. “There is no place for abhorrent behavior like this at Fox News.”

According to the New York Times, both women worked for Slater and had previously complained about her treatment of African American employees. The New York Times reported that both women had denied a settlement agreement from Fox News.

In a statement to the press, Fox referred to the lawsuit as “needless litigation.”

“We take complaints of this nature very seriously and took prompt and effective remedial action before Ms. Brown and Ms. Wright sued in court and even before Ms. Wright complained through her lawyer,” Fox News said.

“There is no place for inappropriate verbal remarks like this at Fox News. We are disappointed that this needless litigation has been filed.”

News of the lawsuit came on the same day that Fox News personality Bill O’Reilly was accused of making racist remarks about Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA). O’Reilly compared Water’s hair to that of deceased male singer James Brown in an appearance on “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday morning. O’Reilly accused Rep. Waters of wearing a wig, and said that he was distracted by her hair.

He later apologized for his remarks.
