President Trump is clearly not impressed with NBC News’ Chuck Todd’s coverage of him. On Saturday morning, the president took to Twitter to let Todd know just how much, and he even dusted off an old nickname to do so.
“When will Sleepy Eyes Chuck Todd and @NBCNews start talking about the Obama SURVEILLANCE SCANDAL and stop with the Fake Trump/Russia story?” he wrote.

The tweet is presumably in response to Todd’s Friday night coverage of Trump. He appeared on both “Meet the Press” to discuss the Russia investigation with former White House press secretary Josh Earnest and “Nightly News,” during which he further talked about the investigation and how the president’s wiretapping accusations caused “all of the current problems for this West Wing.”
“I think the biggest problem here is you have the president not wanting to accept the conclusion that Russia tried to interfere in the election and that there is going to be an investigation in this, whether he likes it or not,” Todd said.
“The source of all of the current problems for this West Wing right now, for this presidency right now, all stems from that tweet where the president accused President Obama of wiretapping him.”
This Saturday morning is not the first Saturday morning President Trump has called out “Sleepy Eyes” Chuck Todd via Twitter. While on a campaign stop in North Carolina back in July, then candidate Trump boasted about how he’d come up with the name for the NBC News anchor and then tested the insult out on Twitter, saying, “Sleepy eyes Chuck Todd, a man with so little touch for politics, is at it again. He could not have watched my standing ovation speech in N.C.”

An investigation into Russia’s potential election interference is still ongoing. The Trump administration, particularly the president, has continuously referred to the scandal as “fake news” and insists that the real story here is the unsubstantiated claim that former President Obama ordered a wiretapping of Trump Tower.
