His divorce from model Gisele Bundchen is also official and has been for a few months. But Bundchen still found it in her heart to wish him well in life’s next chapter. She made her comment below Brady’s official retirement announcement on social media.

“Wishing you only wonderful things in this new chapter of your life,” she wrote, along with a prayer hands emoji.

Brady, 45, retired and then unretired at the end of last season. He then returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and had a fairly uneven season as the team struggled, although still managed to win the stinky NFC South division with a record of 8-9. Brady and the Bucs were quickly dispatched by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs.

Along the way, Bundchen and Brady filed for divorce, with the NFL citing his return as being among the reasons for the split. Brady said this time, the retirement will stick.

“I’m retiring. For good,” he said in the video. “I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning I figured I’d just press record, and let you guys know first.

“It won’t be long-winded, you only get one super-emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year, so. I…really thank you guys…so much,” he continued, while choking up, “To every single one of you, for supporting me, my family, my friends, teammates, my competitors. I could go on forever. There are too many. Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream.

“I wouldn’t change a thing,” he added. “Love you all.”
