Tom Cruise Eyeing Next Role… In A Musical?

Cruise has sang before, starring in ‘Rock of Ages’

We all know Tom Cruise as mostly an action hero. Between the Mission Impossible franchise and given the smashing success of Top Gun: Maverick, that is no doubt.

But back in the 1990s and early 2000s, Cruise was so much more than that. He’s actually quite the versatile actor.

That is something Cruise may again be set to prove. He could be in at least one of three new films involving noted producer Christopher McQuarrie. And one of those is expected to be a musical.

That’s right, Tom Cruise, 60, is set to do a little song-and-dance routine, it seems.

Per Deadline, Cruise has been interested in doing a musical for some time, and dating back to his Risky Business days, is no stranger to acting like a singer/dancer.

He’s done it before!

“He learned to sing like a rock star for Rock of Ages, and would dance as well, with all three of these scripts to be written by McQuarrie in collaboration with Cruise,” Deadline wrote.

Along with a musical, Cruise is working on a sci-fi film, and if not a sci-fi, at least one that will be shot in outer space. That one will be directed by Doug Liman, with McQuarrie producing and some help from NASA and Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

Deadline offered more details on that one as well, writing that Cruise and his companians have “aligned with SEE-1, film producer duo Elena and Dmitry Lesnevsky’s newly-launched Space Entertainment Enterprise (S.E.E.) that will dock with Axiom’s world-first commercial space station Axiom Station, which is connected to the International Space Station (ISS). That one might well come next.”

After that, though, it appears Cruise has something a little more sweet sounding lined up.
