Prepare yourself for a very Florida story.

A Santa Claus-esque man and his goateed wife from Kissimmee — unlikely that anyone would Kissithem, by the way — were arrested Monday on felony battery charges after a police investigation into a “fall” by the man’s 81-year-old mother was determined to have been abuse.

Raymond, 56, and Debbie Sutherland, 54, were arrested after an investigation by Osceola County Sheriff’s Office detectives concluded Monday that the two abused Raymond’s 81-year-old mother in September.

According to WTSP, the victim told police that she “had fallen in her bedroom and asked her son on several times for assistance.”

In fact, the woman woke up in a pool of blood and her son only called an ambulance “after some time” had passed.

Doctors evaluated the woman and told detectives that her injuries were not consistent with a mere fall. After this, Raymond was brought in for questioning.

The man denied pushing his elderly mother down and then admitted that he took medication that made him black out at the time the victim was harmed.

What the doctors and what the Sutherlands told police in interviews were enough.

Police arrested the Sutherlands and charged them both with felony battery. Raymond was also charged with elderly neglect for not immediately calling an ambulance.
