The Villages is a massive retirement community in central Florida. It has a growing metropolitan area. There are several rumors swirling around about public sex that takes place in the community. This has been going on in the decades.

Some residents have made comments about the side-eyes and questions they get when they reveal their homes in the retirement community.
“I feel like I have to justify to every single person I know that I didn’t buy this place to chase women,” one resident said, “I bought it because I want to play golf.”
The pandemic played a major part in the rise of sexually transmitted infections.

At this point, the residents are used to the rumors. Things have been posted to Facebook groups and breaking new forums. WFTV released an article about the community.
“While statistics aren’t yet reflecting the trend, one physician at the Women’s Center of The Villages said, even in her years working in Miami, she has never seen so many cases,” the article reported. It has been recently removed.
Several comments have been posted to the Facebook group.
“My doctor in Ohio even, when he asked where we spend time in Florida, stated ‘Oh, The Villages — the highest STD rate in the country,’” one user, Jan Schweitzer, wrote.
Sean Donnelly, another user commented, “We are more worried about alligators than crabs here.”
Responses continued to pour in until a moderator switched the comment feature off. Some people say it’s a rumor and others believe the whispers.
