The world is mourning the devastating loss of a true Hollywood legend at the age of 83

American stage and screen comic actor, Gene Wilder has passed away. He was 83 years old.

Perhaps best known for his role in “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” Wilder entertainment men, women and children through the years with his funny disposition and overall charm.

Aside from “Willy Wonka,” Wilder was a hit in such films as “Blazing Saddles,” and “Young Frankenstein.”

AP Entertainment tweeted the unfortunate news on Monday.

“BREAKING: Gene Wilder, star of ‘Willy Wonka’ and Mel Brooks comedies, is dead at 83, his family says.”

According to the Associated Press, Wilder died late Sunday in Stamfort, Connecticut from complications from Alzheimer’s disease.

He was married to Gilda Radner from 1984 until she died in 1989. He later married Karen Boyer.

Wilder is survived by a daughter, Katherine — whom he adopted in 1967 while he was married to her mother, Mary Joan Schute.
