The lightning rod that is AOC is in the news cycle once again. This time after an incident with a “comedian” catcalling her.
U.S. House Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday tweeted — then later deleted — video of a heckler who shouted sexist remarks at her on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Building, calling him “clearly someone seeking extremist fame.”
In the 13-minute video, titled “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez EPICLY [sic] Trolled By Youtuber Alex Stein & Has Total Meltdown!”
Stein is the ‘star’ of his own video, smiling and shouting: “She wants to kill babies, but she’s still beautiful!”; “You look very beautiful in that dress! You look very sexy!”, and “Look at that booty on AOC! That’s my favorite big booty Latina!”
The representative walks by Stein before coming over to greet him and give the peace sign. She doesn’t appear to have heard what he had shouted at her moments before.
Later Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez — who has made numerous comments about how she doesn’t feel safe working in the Capitol Building — tweeted: “I posted about a deeply disgusting incident that happened today on the Capitol steps, but took it down bc it’s clearly someone seeking extremist fame.”
Nonetheless, the video appears on her Twitter page alongside other tweets that the representative retweeted.
AOC Speaks Out About Altercation…
On Thursday afternoon, she retweeted a post by another Twitter user who wrote: “Inside Capitol just now, Rep. AOC asked to speak with ‘female and LGBT reporters to warn us that the man who harassed her is affiliated with credentialed news outlet[.] She said her staff called Capitol police 5x to get them to do something[.]”
On Thursday night, Ocasio-Cortez retweeted another related tweet that said: “Much was written by reporters and pundits about Brett Kavanaugh eating in a restaurant and being ‘harassed’ by protestors he neither saw nor heard, but Rep. @AOC gets sexually harassed by a racist on the steps of the Capitol and it seems so many pens are suddenly out of ink.”
Atop that retweet, Ocasio-Cortez wrote: “Funny how ‘both sides’ only seems to be evoked in one direction.”
