Sometimes, politicians on both sides argue with each other so much that they just start making up stuff to try to look smarter.

That is what social media accused New York Congresswoman and environmentalist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of doing in her Twitter reply to Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas.

It started when Jackson tweeted that he was not about to give up his gas stove.

“I’ll NEVER give up my gas stove,” he wrote. “If the maniacs in the White House come for my stove, they can pry it from my cold dead hands. COME AND TAKE IT!!”

That led to AOC’s response, which many found ludicrous.

“Did you know that ongoing exposure to NO2 from gas stoves is linked to reduced cognitive performance?” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in response to Jackson.

Well, OK. Clearly, that comment alone was enough to make a lot of people on Twitter want to belch.

“Is this an attack on Gordon Ramsey?” Republican Congressional candidate Max Avery responded.

“How many [gas stoves] do you have?” actor Matthew Marsden asked.

Actor Nicholas Tutora was a little more direct. “Dems are literally insane,” he wrote.

Others simply posted a picture of first lady Jill Biden cooking … on a gas stove.

“Did you know that it’s a lot harder for the government to arbitrarily cut off your access to power if you’re using gas as opposed to electric?” wrote Virginia state Delegate Nick Freitas. “Or is that really the point?”

Of course, more than a few wondered if AOC hadn’t been victimized by a gas stove herself.

“Is that what happened to you?” asked Freedom Speaks Up CEO Seth Weathers.
