Biden “would not blame you” if you don’t want a picture with him

At the swearing-in of new Defense Secretary Ashton Carter, Joe Biden poked fun at his recent awkward photo gaffe.

“I hope you’ll stick around–and I just want you to know that I will not be offended if you don’t want to–but I’m going to be in that room if you want a photograph,” he told attendees. “I would not blame you if you didn’t.”

The viral awkward moment happened when Biden got a bit touchy-feely with Carter’s wife while Carter was at the podium discussion his confirmation for the Pentagon post, in this video shared by The News Journal.

It’s not the first time the vice president has embraced jokes made at his expense. He once responded on Twitter to a question from The Onion’s satirical Biden persona, nicknamed “Diamond Joe.”
