In a blog post targeted at his now failed Trump University students and followers, Donald Trump once wrote about how he respects people who are “loyal and faithful.”

He used an encounter with actress Kelly Preston as an example of the loyalty he admires. In the piece, Trump details how he met Kelly Preston at a club and “worked like hell to try and pick her up.”

The blog from 2009 was written four days after Preston and her husband, John Travolta, lost their son Jett to a seizure and subsequent head injury while on vacation.

Trump wrote that Preston was “beautiful, personable, and definitely had allure.” He said the meeting occurred before he was married. Trump tied the knot with his current wife, Melania, in 2005.

He explained in the story that Preston wouldn’t give him the time of day.

“I didn’t have a chance with her, and that was that,” he wrote.

He said he respected Preston even more after finding out she was Travolta’s wife, calling her loyalty “unwavering.”

Trump then closed the blog post with a note of condolence on the loss of the couple’s son.

Mother Jones unearthed the blog post, which is now in the Web Archive.

The account mirrors some of Trump’s language in the now infamous video of him talking to former NBC personality Billy Bush in 2005. In that video, Trump detailed how he tried to hit on entertainment show host Nancy O’Dell, but she turned down his advances.
