Congressman Richard Hanna (R-NY) announced in an op-ed and interview with Syracuse.com that he will vote against his party and vote for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to become the next President of the United States.

The 65 year old three-term congressman is the first congressman to say he will vote for Clinton, whereas many of his Republican dissenters have simply said that they won’t vote for Trump.

Like many voters, Hanna was taken aback by Trump’s public war of words with the Khan family, the family of a U.S. Army captain who have spoken out against Trump’s policies.

“I saw that and felt incensed,” Hanna said.

“I was stunned by the callousness of his comments.”

“I think Trump is a national embarrassment. Is he really the guy you want to have the nuclear codes?”

Hanna, who has often voted against his party on social issues such as gay marriage and abortion does not feel that Trump is fit to lead.

“In his latest foray of insults, Mr. Trump has attacked the parents of a slain U.S. soldier,” Hanna wrote at Syracuse.com

“Where do we draw the line? I thought it would have been when he alleged that U.S. Sen. John McCain was not a war hero because he was caught. Or the countless other insults he’s proudly lobbed from behind the Republican presidential podium. For me, it is not enough to simply denounce his comments: He is unfit to serve our party and cannot lead this country.”
