It’s happened again. More violence surrounding the campaign of Donald Trump. This time, it looks like his supporters might be threatening anti-Trump delegates in Indiana.
Indiana State Police are reviewing threatening emails sent to anti-Trump delegates by Trump supporters. Some of them threaten their families.
From the Indianapolis Star:
Several of Indiana’s delegates to the 2016 Republican national convention said they received a barrage of hate mail from Trump supporters after they expressed reservations about the billionaire real estate developer and reality TV star in a Politico story published online Saturday.
The emails warn the delegates are being watched and imply they could be targeted.
“You sorry (expletive)!” one email said. “I hope the worst for you and yours!”
“Think before you take a step down the wrong path,” another said, “the American people want to have faith in your but it looks like a future in hiding is more appealing.”
“Good luck becoming a delegate,” a third said, “we are watching you.”
This isn’t the first time violence and physical threats have plagued the Trump campaign.
In November, the Republican frontrunner implied a protester deserved to be beaten. Last month, there were numerous brawls at Trump rallies as the candidate’s supporters and opponents fought in the stands and in the streets. Mr. Trump even offered to pay the bail money of his supporters.
There is a clear pattern to these activities. While the ones making these threats and committing these acts of violence are to blame for their own actions, there’s still a common thread.
Donald Trump’s campaign needs to move away from this type of harsh rhetoric, unequivocally denounce violence, and clean up its act before more people do get hurt.
