2016 Republican presidential candidate Senator Lindsey Graham said Thursday if you are “worn out by war,” don’t vote for him.
Appearing on Fox and Friends, Graham called for “holding territory,” or a foreign policy designed to defeat ISIS through long and enduring U.S. military occupation.
“The only way I know how to defend this country is to send some of us back to Iraq and eventually to Syria to dig these guys out of the ground, destroy the caliphate, kill as many of them as you can, hold territory, and help people over there help themselves.”
Host Steve Doocy told Graham that his message is a tough one for Americans who are “worn out by war.” Graham replied, “then don’t vote for me.”
Graham may get what he asked for according to a recent poll conducted by Winthrop University, in which 65.3% of registered Republican voters said they do not want him running for president.
