The venue was the annual Professional Business Women of California conference held in San Francisco, where she announced she’s back.
“I am thrilled to be out of the woods, in the company of so many inspiring women,” she told the crowd of 3,500 women.
“The last few months haven’t been exactly what I envisioned, although I do know what I’m fighting for: I’m fighting for a fairer, big-hearted, inclusive America. And the unfinished business of the 21st century can’t wait any longer,” she said. “Now is the time to demand the progress we want to see … and I’ll be right there with you every step of the way.”
The former secretary of state has laid low following the election, living a much more private and reserved life. A few pictures of her without make up, leading a normal life, have gone viral, showing a side to the woman that we rarely see.
Her speech this week marks her reemergence to public life.
The tone of her speech was optimistic and forward looking. Time notes that she didn’t mention President Trump by name, but she did mention the latest news about Obamacare.
“When this disastrous bill failed, it was a victory for all Americans,” she said about the Republicans failure to repeal Obama’s health care law. She added: “The other side never quits. Sooner or later, they’ll try again.”
Then she joked about her policy-heavy campaign.

“As a candidate for President, I put out a comprehensive plan. I don’t expect you to remember that,” she jested. “In fact, there was a recent study showing that none of my plans were really publicized or talked about, so that gives me something for speeches for at least a decade.”
One message rang true: “Obviously, the outcome of the election wasn’t the one I hoped for, worked for,” she said. “But I will never stop speaking out.”
