It’s not every day that someone is their grandparent’s doppelganger. But it does happen, thanks to what genetic scientists refer to as “The Law of Dominance.” In the case of the uber-famous Kennedy family, Jacqueline Kennedy’s granddaughter is her spitting image. Meet Rose Kennedy Schlossberg.

Rose Kennedy Schlossberg’s Roots

Rose Kennedy Schlossberg was born on June 25, 1988. She is the eldest grandchild to the now-deceased former president John F. Kennedy and late First Lady, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Her mother is Caroline Kennedy, the American ambassador to Japan and the only living child of John F. Kennedy and Jackie O. Rose’s father is American designer Edwin Schlossberg. She has two younger siblings, sister Tatiana and brother Jack.

Rose was raised in New York and attended the prep school Brearley School in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. She then attended Harvard College where she received a bachelor’s degree in English studies. After that, Rose went on to get her graduate degree from New York University. She graduated with a master’s in Professional Studies from NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program in 2013.

As a child, Rose was often seen with her grandmother and now lookalike, Jacqueline Kennedy. Her grandma lived nearby and saw Rose almost daily. She even served as a chaperone while on a school field trip to the American Museum of Natural History when Rose was in 1st grade.

Rose Veered Away From Politics to Become a Comedian

Rose made big headlines in 2016 after being photographed out and about at big events, often with her siblings. The world had finally noticed that she pretty much looks exactly like her grandmother. She has the same hair, eyes, lips, and, when she’s dressed up, elegance and class.

That same year, Rose launched a comedy web series about girls living in a post-apocalyptic world. The End Times Girls Club featured Rose as “Bee” and Mara Nelson-Greenberg as “Lara.” They give hilarious tutorials about how to survive and stay cute when the world has gone to sh*t.

“It came up as a response to seeing the way that New York responded to Hurricane Sandy, and how people were grossly underprepared — specifically, girls in damsel in distress mode,” Schlossberg told Mashable. “I thought it would be interesting to create this world where girls have to be survivalists without compromising their cute factor.”

The series was produced by Above Average Productions, which is a part of Lorne Michaels’Broadway Video. Above Average specializes in comedy and has an impressive list of films that have been produced for entities like Prime Video and HBO.

In one episode of The End Times Girls Club, “Apocalypse Makeover,” Bee and Lara teach viewers how to make mascara with nothing but “ashes and plain old auto grease.”

“I am not a huge fan of make-up myself, but there are real benefits to looking good post-doomsday,” says Rose’s character, Bee. “For example, you will want people to invite you into their bunker.”

Then She Disappeared…

The webisode series seemed to gain some pretty good traction at its inception, but Rose and Mara didn’t take it very far. After that, Rose went on to do some more work on films and shorts. She is usually stuck to behind-the-scenes, working as a writer, producer, director, and even on a camera crew. She did do a bit more acting.

Many were shocked that a member of the Kennedy clan, famous for sticking with politics, had veered away, and chosen a new field. It was clear that Rose’s passion had nothing to do with politics. Although, she did endorse Barack Obama and volunteered for Democrat Alan Khazei’s campaign for US Senate at one point.

Her sister, Tatiana, is a journalist who has written for The New York Times, The Atlantic, and The Washington Post, among other prestigious publications. She often writes political columns. And Rose’s brother, Jack, is a lawyer who has worked as a staff assistant to the U.S. Department of State.

But as for Rose, it seemed that her path was to become a comedian. Until she kind of disappeared.

Rose Found Love, Married Longtime Girlfriend Rory McAuliffe (Also, She Surfs)

Rose eventually came out as a lesbian, and kind of disappeared out of the public eye. She deleted her social media and then, last spring, it was announced that she was going to be married. Rose married her longtime girlfriend, restauranter Rory McAuliffe, this past June. Rory and her sister, Meave, own a farm-to-table restaurant, Rory’s Place, in Ojai, California.

About 300 people attended the wedding ceremony, including Caroline Kennedy and family member Maria Shriver. Also in attendance were celebrities like Jimmy Buffett, David Letterman, and Jason Segel. The National Enquirer claimed that same-sex marriage caused some sort of a rift in the Kennedy family due to its “staunchly Catholic” heritage.

But she hasn’t really disappeared. Rose is just living a down-to-earth, normal life. You can spot her here, unnamed, casually drinking a glass of wine in a local publication, Sunset, article about Rory’s place. And more recently, Rose Kennedy Schlossberg was spotted in southern California. She was surfing at a local’s spot in Ventura.

And yes, Rose still looks just like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. But on a surfboard.

Sounds pretty sweet!
