Hillary Clinton insider Huma Abedin sure seems to be on the outs with Clinton staffers following the Democratic candidate’s stunning defeat to President-elect Donald Trump.
Vanity Fair published a rather scathing report of bitterness being directed toward Abedin.
“Maybe I’m just pissed off, but I really don’t give a s**t about what happens to Huma Abedin to be honest with you,” one Clinton adviser told the magazine. That adviser went on to say they took issue with Abedin being front and center alongside Clinton when she greeted disappointed supporters after conceding the election.
Abedin — who was often photographed at Clinton events, took selfies with supporters and was featured in Vogue — seemed to get a bit too cozy with the limelight and thought a bit too highly of herself and her place on the campaign staff, another Clinton insider told Vanity Fair.
“She was enjoying the red carpet and enjoying the photo spreads much too much in my opinion,” the insider said. “She enjoyed being a celebrity too much.”
Insiders suggest Abedin, the estranged wife of Anthony Weiner, was part of a group close to Clinton that apparently didn’t make it a priority for the candidate to change her ways even as her poll numbers started to drop. For instance, some insiders wanted her to go on the talk show “The View” more frequently, Vanity Fair reported, to show her more “gregarious side.”
So what will Abedin do now that she doesn’t have Clinton to lean on?
Well, don’t worry too much for her, says an insider.
“[S]he’s someone that will be sought after either personally or through business from many rich, very rich connected people,” the insider said. “She’ll do very well for herself.”
