Joel Osteen Church Service Interrupted by Activists Stripping

Three pro-choice activists stripped down to their tidy whiteys during Joel Osteen’s 11 A.M. church service. The service, which takes place in his football stadium-sized megachurch, took place last Sunday June 5. The protestors were protesting the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the federal law that allow abortion to be legal. A video of the protest has gone viral.

In the video, Joel Osteen can be seen in the background on a big screen monitor as he ‘s speaking. Next, a girl gets up and pulls her clothes off, leaving nothing on but her bra and underwear. She has green hand prints on her chest and red hand prints in her crotch area, appearing to be made of body paint.

“It’s my body, my f***ing choice. My body, my choice,” says the girl on the left. She looks pissed and turns to the next protestor, who stands up.

“Overturn Roe? Hell, no!” says the second woman as she pulls her clothes off.

A third protester then stands up and joins the first two women, chanting “my body, my choice.”

The first woman continues to say, “I am who I say I am. I do what I say what I can do because I have a choice. I have a choice. I have a choice.”

Joel Osteen never stops speaking during the protest.

The three women barely get into their chant when security is seen escorting them out of the church. Shortly after, the congregation bursts into cheers as the nearly naked protestors are escorted out.

One of the protestors, who are part of Rise Up Abortion Rights, spoke with KPRC 2 News of Houston, Texas.

“I know it’s very outrageous to do it in a church, in a private space, however, the people enforcing these laws have no qualms coming up to women in private spaces, such as doctor’s offices and medical clinics, to harass them and call them murderers,” she explained.

A recently leaked Supreme Court opinion draft by Justice Samuel Alito revealed his recommendations to overturn Roe v. Wade, the law that makes abortion federally legal. The topic has been a point of contention and major dividing factor amongst U.S. citizens for decades, but especially recently.

Those who are pro-choice argue that women’s rights are under attack. Those who are pro-life argue that abortion is murder.

Recently, Governor Abbott of Texas signed a “Heartbeat Bill,” declaring that a 6-week-old or older fetus has a beating heart and therefore can not be legally aborted. Many claim that this violates Roe v. Wade and that the state legislation trend puts women’s federal rights at risk.

Joel Osteen’s church, Lakewood, regularly caters to about 50,000 people. Lakewood and its spokespeople have not commented on the protest.
