Country music was well represented with Kenny Chesney joining the line-up for this year’s Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks celebration in New York.

Kenny joined fellow entertainers Meghan Trainor, 8 Seconds of Summer, DNCE and Pitbull for a lively night of music prior to one of the biggest firework displays in the country.

Any country fan would tell you that Kenny blew them away with his romping rendition of his 2014 hit single “American Kids.” You can also see from the video that country music fans were also well-represented in the audience, singing along to every lyric.

This was the 40th Anniversary of Macy’s Independence Day celebration. The two-hour long, nationally televised event has previously hosted country stars like Brad Paisley and Taylor Swift, along with other music icons like Beyoncé, Mariah Carey and Britney Spears.

The actual fireworks display was set to music performed by Jennifer Holliday and the USAF Band and featured more than 50,000 shells launched from five barges on New York’s East River, lasting 25 minutes.
