Gina Carano hasn’t fought in mixed martial arts since 2009 when she lost to Cris Cyborg in a Strikeforce women’s featherweight title fight. The loss was her only professional loss.

Since that time Carano has become an actress and producer. Her latest film is called Terror on the Prairie. She both starred in and produced the movie which was released on June 14th.

Her acting career doesn’t mean her fighting days are behind her. UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey, who last fought in the octagon back in 2016, revealed recently that she would come out of retirement to fight only one person. That person is Gina Carano.

The trailblazer of women’s MMA was asked about Rousey’s comments

The trailblazer of women’s MMA was asked about Rousey’s comments and didn’t close the door on the possibility of returning to fighting, “You know what? Just never put it past me.”

She continued, “It could happen. It would be like, you know, six months from now, because I have a lot of stuff I need to do. But my fight really is with I really want to create, I want to direct, I want to produce, I want to give Ronda Rousey a job in one of my movies, so maybe there is something we can do there.”

This isn’t the first time a fight between the Carano and Rousey has been discussed. The UFC tried and failed to put a fight between them together several years ago. They came very close to making it happen.

Carano was reportedly offered $1 million to fight Rousey

Carano was reportedly offered $1 million to fight Rousey, who was at the time, the undefeated bantamweight champion. The fight fell apart when UFC president Dana White told the media that Carano had signed on for the fight.

The premature announcement by White didn’t sit well with Carano. She felt like she was being pressured into signing a deal and didn’t feel comfortable doing so. As a result she never agreed to a fight with Rousey.

Like Carano, Rousey finished her mixed martial arts career with a loss. She lost a title fight to then champion Amanda Nunes in the first-round. Since retiring from the UFC she’s started a family and become a WWE star. Rousey currently holds WWE SmackDown women’s belt.
