Moments prior to the start of the big game, their mother Donna Kelce was interviewed by EGOT winner Jordin Sparks. During the interview, they played a game where Donna held up photos of each of her son’s faces as the crowd cheered for who they believed would come out on top.

As the National Anthem was performed before the game, the brothers were both shown on the Jumbotron, with Travis being seen visibly emotional.

“New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce”

Travis Kelce, 33, is a fan-favorite tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs who has set several records. 35-year-old Jason Kelce is a center for the Philadelphia Eagles. Both of the brothers were raised in Cleveland Heights, Ohio and played football together at the University of Cincinnati. Jason was drafted by the Eagles back in 2011, while Travis joined the Chiefs in 2013.

Before the big game, the Chiefs tight end discussed the unique nature of their “sibling rivalry” on their podcast “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce”. He stated that the face-off was a “double-edged sword.”

“It’s wild and surreal. I feel like I’ve been getting asked this question for my entire career. ‘What would you feel if you played your brother in the Super Bowl?’ The entire time I’ve been like, ‘That’s been the goal.’ Now that it’s actually happening, it’s kind of sick,” Travis stated. “Now someone’s gotta send their brother home.”

“You’re Watching a Loved One Accomplish Their Dreams”

The brothers aren’t strangers to the Super Bowl, saying they were both happy for each other’s success despite there being a minor rivalry. “The happiest I’ve ever been for him was seeing him win the Super Bowl and seeing how crazy he went on the field,” Travis told Sports Illustrated about Jason’s Super Bowl win in 2018.

Jason also had similar feelings towards his brother’s Super Bowl victory two years later. “Winning it yourself is a very self-gratifying thing … but seeing someone you love and care about accomplish their dreams is potentially more gratifying,” Jason stated.
