The power couple might be the perfect example of how opposites attract. Chip is outgoing and unfiltered. Joanna is orderly and contained. But as this video shows, their opposite personalities have enabled them to do what they do today.

Before Joanna met Chip, she was what he called a “wallflower.” She was afraid of stepping out of her comfort zone. She liked safety and consistency, unlike Chip, who never lets fear and failure “cross his mind.”

Chip helped bring Joanna out of her shell and pushed her to do things she never thought possible, including putting their renovation business on HGTV.

The couple also shared how God has impacted their lives and their choices.

Joanna said that, in many ways, her relationship with Chip opened her up to a deeper relationship with God.

“God had a funny way of bringing me Chip to almost have this reality of what it’s like to follow Christ, which is a lot of the things are going to push you to a place of discomfort. A lot of things are going to push you to a place of freaking out.”

Joanna also revealed how she now views God and his desires for her in a different light, saying that she used to believe that if she played “by the rules” that she would be “blessed.” However, after she met Chip, she realized that stepping out in faith and making choices that seemed like they made “absolutely no sense” is “where the greater reward is. There’s no telling where that will it take you.”
