Stephen Colbert wanted to make “decrees,” but he knew he needed a really, really big hat

On Friday night’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” host Stephen Colbert wanted to play dictator. Unfortunately, the late night host didn’t have the hat necessary to go along with the role of a tyrant. Luckily for him, the wardrobe crew at “The Late Show” rigged up a sombrero that would look good on any aspiring ruler.

With his hat on, Colbert finally decided that he was “endowed with indisputable power.” He passed down a series of proclamations including “anyone born and raised in America who refers to their apartment as a flat shall be kicked in the twig and berries” and “any story advertising a ‘blow-out sale’ must have actual explosions.
