If you tuned into NBC to watch the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards on Jan 8, chances are you probably saw Meryl Streep’s acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

It was then that the 67-year-old Hollywood actress called out President-elect Donald Trump over prior accusations that he imitated a disabled reporter while on the campaign trail. Meryl didn’t mention Donald’s name, but it was clear whom she was talking about, as she explained that the person sitting “in the most respected seat in our country” broke her heart.

Needless to say, Meryl’s time onstage got people talking, including Travis Tritt.

Travis took to Twitter to let his fellow stars know that he’s sick and tired of hearing them mix politics in with their art. While he didn’t single out Meryl specifically, Travis tweeted, “Advice to all actors, musicians and entertainers: Please stick to your crafts that we all love you for and drop the political rhetoric.”

He then added, “Nobody cares or wants to hear what any celebrities have to say about politics. Do your craft and leave politics to the politicians.”

Travis’ fans got in on the conversation and either strongly agreed or disagreed with him.

One fan wrote, “@Travistritt sorry have to disagree everyone is allowed to have an opinion and you are allowed to disagree.”

Another fan tweeted, “@Travistritt I agree and If I pay to go to a show I expect to get what I pay for, their performance not their political views!!!”

After a lengthy conversation involving opposing and non-opposing views between Travis and his fans, the “Here’s a Quarter” singer closed out his rant with, “If you have fans who respect your talent enough to spend hard earned money to see your talent, be thankful and gracious and leave it at that.”

Travis is no stranger to speaking his mind when it comes to big events. In fact, back in November, he got on Twitter to weigh in on Beyoncé’s appearance with the Dixie Chicks at the 50th annual CMA Awards.
