In order to promote safe sex ahead of Valentine’s Day and prevent teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, Thailand has decided to disturb more than 95 million free condoms. YES! 95 million!!

The initiative started on Wednesday, February 1st, with government spokesman Rachada Dhnadirek saying the condoms will be available in four sizes. You know, because everyone is different.
The condoms can be collected in primary care units of hospitals across the country and pharmacies. Universal healthcare care card holders are said to be eligible to receive a total of 10 condoms a week for one year! So, why are they handing out free condoms?
Well, according to NSHO, the decision to give out free condoms is in order to prevent unwanted pregnancies and STDs such as syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV, and cervical cancer. The National Health Security Office Jadeja Thammatacharee stated the free condoms will be disturbed with lubricating gel as well.
People who want to receive condoms will be required to register on their smartphones. They will then be required to choose a designated drugstore, state-run health office, or Community Clinic from where they can receive the sad condoms. People who don’t have access to smartphones can also register at designated service outlets by showing a Thai national ID card.
“The campaign to give out free condoms to gold-card holders will help prevent diseases and promote public health,” Rachada stated.
The news of the free condoms comes as Thailand has witnessed an increase in STDs in recent years, with gonorrhea and syphilis making up more than half of 2021 cases. Among the affected are those between the age groups of 15 and 19, and 20 and 24.
