That is especially the case for men who drink Pepsi and Coca-Cola. It’s true, as a new study relayed by the Daily Mail showed that the more of the sugary soft drinks that men drink, the better.

Namely, Pepsi and Coke were shown to increase testosterone levels in mice, as well as enlarge their testicles. For lack of a better reference, typically, those things go hand in hand.

Honestly, though. The research centered on adult male mice showed that those who drank Pepsi and Coke were better off than those who drank just plain, old water. In the end, the soda pop drinkers had increased testosterone levels and larger genitals.

The study lasted 15 days and seemed to fly in the face of everything we think we know about soft drinks — though caffeine has long been associated with increased levels of testosterone.

But sugar? Not so much.

Is It True?

Anyway, the research was conducted with 30 male mice kept in a cage, with a water bottle filled with 50 percent Pepsi and 50 percent tap water. Another 30 were kept in a different cage and given straight Pepsi.

The same was done for two groups with Coke, and a fifth group was given nothing but water, the Daily Mail relayed.

All of the mice were free to drink as much as they wanted for two weeks and a day.

“The mass of the mice’s testicles was measured on days zero, five, seven, 10, 13 and 15,” the Daily Mail wrote.

Those that drank straight Coke showed a noteworthy increase in testosterone and testicle size, while those who drank Pepsi showed increases of 100 percent.

That was compared to 50 percent, at best, for those who drank the watered-down versions, or straight water.

“The outcomes demonstrated a high dose of Pepsi-Cola or Coca-Cola could promote testis growth and development,” the study stated at the end.

Interestingly, the mice involved in the study were non-copulating — or in everyday terms, do not mate.

What they did with all that pent-up testosterone, no one knows.

So hey guys. Craving a Pepsi or Coke and some good old-fashioned hormonal energy? Well, go ahead. Drink up.
